Hi there! Here is an example of meta description. Keep in mind this tools is just an simulator not an actual SERP.

Fetching and Improving Data

The fetch and improve feature allows you to fetch both the title and meta description of a site at the click of a button. Simply enter the URl and press the “Fetch data” button.

You can then click on the “Capitalize” checkbox to change every first letter of each word in the title into caps. Keep in mind that smaller functional words like indefinite articles and prepositions shouldn’t be capitalized.

Title and Meta Description Length Checker

One thing to keep in mind is that there isn’t really a hard limit on the number of characters you can put in a title tag to have it properly displayed.

When searching on a desktop, Google will usually show a full-length title tag if it’s around 65-70 characters long, translating to about 580 to 600 pixels. However, at other times, titles will only display if they’re 55 characters long, or between 430 and 540 pixels.

This is because Google won’t trim down a title if the last word is relatively long. This keeps things legible and ensures that words don’t get cut off in the middle. This means that long words at the end of the title will likely be omitted entirely, cutting down on the length of the entire title. Also, don’t forget to account for the ellipsis points at the end.

The same applies in reverse. If your title contains shorter words, then there’s a higher chance of it displaying more characters since it’s less likely that a word will need to be cut in half.

This is also the case with meta descriptions, which are meant to be about 960 pixels wide on a desktop display.

Of course, this is all subject to change as Google further refines its SERPs.

Mobile search results can be more difficult to predict because of the wide variation in mobile display sizes and resolutions.

When you use our tool to come up with snippets, titles, and descriptions, you’ll see a bar that tracks the length of your title and the meta description. This will count the pixels and characters for you to ensure that neither of them gets clipped.

Pro tip: To see a keyword that you’d like to rank for, submit it to the tool to see live search results. You can then drag and drop your snippet to compare it to your competitors.

SERP Feature Optimization

When you conduct a search on Google, it will typically display search queries in bold if they’re contained in the meta description. Using the “bold keywords” form, you can see how they’ll look in your snippet when someone makes a search.

You can even add star ratings, ads, and dates to the results to see how they would appear.

The Importance of Being Visually Irresistible

Using the “Heatmap” feature, you’ll be able to see which parts of your snippet are the hottest. You can use this to stand out from the crowd, ensuring that your meta description and title help you stand out and draw searchers to your site.

As long as the search results are in English, Spanish, or German, the heatmap will work in tandem with the algorithm to ensure that it’s as precise as possible.

Export and Implement Your Results

By the time you’ve found the best possible meta description and title, you can use the “Copy as HTML” button to quickly paste it to your site’s source code. You can also share it with fellow team members by exporting it as a PNG using the “Save as image” button.

How to Create The Best Title Tags and Meta Descriptions

Creating a quality meta description and title tag will ensure that your searchers are converted into site visitors that may then be converted into customers. There are three key ingredients in a quality title or meta description:

  • SEO: Be sure to use fitting keywords to ensure that Google’s algorithm knows your website’s topic and content. This will ensure that you rank high enough in search results for people to notice your site.
  • UX: This will determine whether people are easily able to find the answer to their search query once they reach your website.
  • Marketing: This is what sells your site. Influence the searcher to click on your site instead of the competition with catchy copy and CTAs.

Try several different approaches while using the SERP snippet preview tool to get the best possible CTR (click-through rate).

You can’t only rely on catchy titles and descriptions since a quality title or description combines all three of the elements that we mentioned up above.

Make sure that the content on your site is also well-optimized and that you’re using headings properly. Search engines can generate their own titles and meta descriptions to match queries too, and in those cases, the ones you created will be ignored. This speaks to the importance of well-optimized content.

Take a look at our blog post about the most common title tag mistakes to further improve your titles and meta descriptions and their results.

When you’re ready to lock in your title and meta description, hit the “Copy as HTML” button to paste it into your site’s source code.

Key Tips for Coming Up With Killer Title Tags and Meta Descriptions

  1. Always combine the aspects of UX, SEO, and marketing to ensure that your titles and descriptions will be as successful as possible.
  2. Use the main focus keyword in both your title and meta description to ensure that the search engine is aware of the term’s importance.
  3. Your title tag should be limited to 62-64 characters max, which is about 600 pixels wide.
  4. Search engines like Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo will display meta descriptions that are up to about 158 characters long. Be sure to put the most important part at the start to ensure that it will still appear if the description gets trimmed.
  5. To make sure that you’re creating quality titles and descriptions, use our SERP simulator tool.
